Short Story
I am
German, green-eyed, patient, quiet, a veterinarian (once upon a time), a daughter, optimistic, ambitious, nice, loyal, devoted, brunette, creative, animal-loving, quirky, a right-hander, a night-owl, a late riser, a tea drinker, chocoholic, anglophil, a Mac user, a Romance lover and Kindle reader, young at heart; a fangirl of vamps, shifters, and zombies; a proud owner of dragons and unicorns, a computer geek, a bookworm, workaholic, and
…hopefully one day your designer.
Long Story
Hi! My name is Frauke Spanuth. (Because so many people always ask: you can listen to how my first name is pronounced here: http://de.forvo.com/word/frauke/.) I’ve designed websites and promotional items for authors since 2005. But even before I designed my first website, I was already working as a cover artist for a small e-publisher. Design was a hobby that became a full-time job in April 2007.
While I don’t have a background in art (I have a degree in Veterinary Medicine), I’ve worked for publishers since 2003. When someone asks me, I tell them that my addiction to books drew me away from animals and medicine.
In the past I’ve worked as freelance artist for a variety of publishers (Entangled Publishing, Carina Press, Harlequin Nocturne Bites, Harlequin Nocturne Cravings, Mills & Boon, Cora Verlag (Harlequin Germany), Cerridwen Press, Ellora’s Cave, Loose Id and Cobblestone Press). These days, though, I work mostly with self-publishing authors on covers for Romance (all subgenres) and (Urban) Fantasy novels as well as mysteries, thrillers, and New Adult/Young Adult books. My covers are clean, eye-catching and communicate to the reader the great stories which lie beneath them.
